Sign Update
Last Updated on Friday, 03 February 2012 23:59

The Sign Committee met Jan 22 and approved the sign shown above. It includes a panel with a new logo. The color will be the same as the directional signs installed last fall around the Center parking lot. The base will be evergreens, such as Blue Rug Juniper. We’ll be filing for the Zoning Conditional Use permit soon and hope to have the new sign in operation by July. The zoning process will be 2-3 months, bidding a few weeks and procurement and installation a couple of months.
Thanks to all of you who increased your offerings or allocated funds for this project. In 2011 you raised nearly 60% of the required funding. It’s not too late to contribute “extra” funds. When bids are analyzed remaining amounts will be allocated from Memorial Funds that have been contributed in the past. The sign is a major part of our evangelism and increasing awareness of our mission for Christ.
From the Pastor: Tackling the Tough Issues

Princeton ethics professor, Peter Singer, believes that there is no fundamental difference in value between a human being and an animal. He believes that giving human beings special privileges is a brand of bigotry he calls “species-ism.” He also believes it would be fine to kill infants who are “disabled.” As you might expect, organizations such as the National Federation for the Blind and the Simon Wiesenthal Center object.- The Spanish parliament voted to grant human rights status to gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans. Human zygotes in Spain (or the United States), however, do not enjoy the same protection.
- A child is born missing all of his brain but the stem. Most of the experts state that the child will never become aware of his surroundings, that he cannot experience pain, joy, or love. He will never learn his own name or recognize the faces of his parents. His reactions to certain stimuli are compared to a plant turning its leave toward the sun. Though the words are never spoken, the parents are lead to think of their child as little more than a vegetable. The parents are Christians and wonder if their baby has a soul and should be baptized.
Redeemer Care Packages

Temporal Affairs Board needs You
Looking for excited property people to assist Ken Haeger and Jeff Ernst to evaluate and take care of our beautiful properties. We need several people for each building to adopt that property and help us bring them back to where Redeemer members want and expect them to be! We have a great foundation to build on, but our facilities are large, and it's too much for any one person to oversee. The plan is to evaluate the needs, develop a plan and act on the projects in a timely and cost effective way.
You don’t need to be a handy person, just have a love for Redeemer, and a desire to HELP! Feel free to contact Jeff Ernst at 630-728-0198 or stop me or Ken and express your desire to help us rebuild God's house.
Congratulations to Pastor Stiegemeyer for 15 years in the Ministry!

On Feb. 23, 1997, Pastor Stiegemeyer was ordained into the ministry at Concordia Theological Seminary at Fort Wayne, Indiana. His first position was working to recruit other students for the ministry. He worked at that position for three years, and then served Concordia Lutheran Church in Brentwood, Pennsylvania from 1999-2006.
After that, he returned to Concordia Theological Seminary where he spent three years as the director of admissions, again urging men to enter the ministry of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. In January of 2010, he received the call to serve at Redeemer Lutheran in Elmhurst. Praise the Lord for all of his gifts to Pastor Stiegemeyer and his family. Please help him celebrate in a small reception after the 10:30 service on February 19, 2012 in the Ascension Room.
