Stewardship Corner "Sowing and Reaping"
You've probably been involved in planting a vegetable or flower garden, and you've realized that the more seeds you plant, the more plants you get. The Apostle Paul used the analogy of sowing and reaping (planting and harvesting) 1n relation to money. He wrote, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully" (2 Corinthians 9:6).
You know that, if you plant a seed here and there, you'll get a plant here and there, and the result will not be especially pleasing. Sowing sparingly yields sparse results. So it is with money. If you give generously, you will reap for yourself and others great benefits
Redeemer's Garden Growing to Give
In partnership with Heaven & Earth Growers. Our Redeemer garden will:
- Teach our children about God's creation.
- Provide healthy food for local food pantries (including Bread of Life Food Pantry in Garfield Park where our youth have been helping over the last year; they are always in great need of fresh produce.)
- Beautify the neighborhood.
- Give members an opportunity to work the garden, which is therapeutic and social.
- Rejoice in the provision of God, being reminded that all we need comes from His generous hand.
Consider assisting with the garden project if you love to build, need points/ credits for community work, or just enjoy gardening. Young and old arewelcome to assist. Ongoing needs for help include, watering, weeding, harvesting and delivering food to our designated recipient agencies.
If you are interested in helping, contact Kim LaBounty.
New Redeemer Cookbook
Keep getting your recipes in! We've had a handful of entries so far, but we need lots more. Feel free to submit up to 1 0 recipes per person. Think of side dishes, salads, desserts as well as main dishes. And men--we need your input too! Thank you to those of you who have offered to help edit and assemble the book. I think we have enough helpers for ~~~~ this end now. Our goal is to have the cookbook done in November or early December so that you can give them as Christmas gifts. So, over the next 3-4 months, we'll be gathering recipes, and then assembling them into a book. Keep 'em coming! Please send to Julie Stiegemeyer.
