Redeemer
Thanksgiving Basket and Christmas Giving Tree
For a number of years a special effort has been made in Elmhurst to
assist local families in need during Thanksgiving and Christmas. About
150 families have been identified this year through Elmhurst Walk-In
Ministry and several churches are “adopting” these families.
We plan to “adopt” three families and provide a week’s
worth of food for each family. We need volunteers to provide and sort
the food and take it to Immaculate Conception for distribution the week
before Thanksgiving. Sign-up sheets will be located in the narthex for
those who wish to help.
Women's
Guild
At the September meeting, the Women’s Guild decided to support a mission called “Welcome Home”. This would provide new kitchen items for the families who suffered from the storms and who will be moving from a trailer to a home.
Mission Project
This year's beneficiary of our Rally Day offerings is the KidsAlive! ministry in the cyclone-ravaged Myanmar. After all the destruction from the cyclone in that country, there is a huge need for additional support in the coming months, and the Redeemer congregation members responded very generously! We raised over $500 on Rally Day, and with the matching funds from Thrivent, we will be able to send KidsAlive over $1000 in relief for their very important efforts there!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
This continues to be our ongoing mission effort for this school year, so be sure to remember your offerings each week in Sunday School. Offerings are collected each Sunday in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms. For older children, there is an offering basket passed around in the music room on the second floor. Envelopes will be sent home each week by the teachers to be used the following week. If you need an envelope, they are available outside of the music room or in the Sunday School office. Please give generously; your continued support is appreciated.
If you have any general questions about the KidsAlive! program, go to the website www.kidsalive.org.
